More than a ride.

The calendar is quieter. Spoke is still moving. Summer gave us dependable rides and familiar meeting places. Fall is giving us room to strengthen something less visible: how people discover Spoke, enter the community and find their place within it. A new member should understand: • Why we exist • Where conversations happen • How to propose or join something • What to expect when they arrive • How participation can become contribution We do not have a formal cycling schedule ready to publish this week. Members can still create opportunities through the appropriate groups by sharing a clear route, time, meeting place, terrain and expected pace. As winter approaches, the community is expanding into a new season. The Spoke Alpine chat is now open for downhill and resort skiing, a member-led place to share plans, coordinate laps and find people to ski with. This season is also giving us room to learn beyond Summit County, including current cycling and destination research in Mallorca. There is nothing ready to announce. We are listening, documenting and exploring what future Spoke experiences could become. The quieter work is harder to photograph, but it matters. The activity may change. The reason we gather does not. The people are the point. Read the complete update at the link in our bio.

8 Spoke Folks. Approximately 35 miles. One incredible day on the Monarch Crest Trail. The ride was largely suggested and organized by Lee. He brought forward the idea, helped coordinate the logistics and created an opportunity for the group to experience one of Colorado’s most celebrated mountain-bike routes together. One member had an idea. Other people answered. The community made it happen. That is what growth looks like. Formal programming is slowing with the season, but Spoke remains available for anyone who wants to create the next experience. Post the plan. Invite people. Help gather the group. Maybe Monarch Crest becomes an annual Spoke adventure. Every tradition begins somewhere. The bike gives us an excuse. The people are the point. Read the full story at the link in our bio.

The pace is changing. After an extraordinary summer, turnout was light last week. The days are getting shorter, temperatures are dropping and everyone’s schedules are shifting. For now, we are easing back on formal weekly programming. Spoke is still here, and the community groups remain open for anyone who wants to organize something. If you are riding, post the route, meeting time and expected pace. Invite people along and see who is available. Some weeks may be active. Other weeks may be quiet. We do not need to force the summer schedule into a different season. The full Monday update is live at the link in our bio. Keep riding. Keep inviting. Keep showing up.

Summer 2026 is in the books! I keep coming back to the same thought: This has been the best summer of my life. For almost five months, people kept showing up. Saturday after Saturday. Road rides. Mountain rides. Tuesday nights. Thursday nights. Races. Random meetups. Triple Bypass. Copper Triangle. Five Lake Lap Century. More laps around Dillon Reservoir than I could possibly count. Those aren't actually the things I'll remember most. I'll remember watching people become friends. Watching riders become stronger and more confident. Watching somebody arrive alone and slowly become part of the group. Watching somebody accomplish something they weren't sure they could do. Watching people step into leadership. Watching somebody who once needed encouragement become the person giving it. This summer, I got to experience some of that myself, too. After years primarily riding road, I stepped much further into mountain biking and suddenly found myself learning again, following wheels, asking questions, figuring out lines and relying on other riders to help me grow. Then September arrived. I left Summit County, and you kept going. People organized rides. People welcomed new riders. People stepped up. Saturday morning kept happening. This Friday, while I'm still hundreds of miles away, Craig is hosting our Harvest Moon Ride around Dillon Reservoir. That is Spoke. Not one person standing at the front. A community creating opportunities for one another. I've written the full reflection on Summer 2026 tonight, and it's probably the most meaningful thing I've written about Spoke this year. If you were part of this season, whether you rode once or showed up every week, this one is for you. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for leading. Thank you for teaching me. Thank you for taking care of one another. Thank you for making Spoke what it is. This has been the best summer of my life, and It happened because of all of you. Full story at the link in bio.

500 miles away, and somehow I feel more convinced than ever that this is working. I’m still in Utah, about halfway through this stretch of guiding bike tours. I really miss home. I miss Saturday mornings. I miss seeing the bikes roll in. I miss the conversations before and after the ride and watching somebody arrive alone and leave knowing a few more people. At the same time, I keep looking around out here and realizing how incredibly fortunate I am. I get to ride bikes for a living. That’s pretty damn cool. Maybe the coolest part right now is watching Spoke continue without me. Saturday rides are happening. People are stepping up. The MTB chats are buzzing again. People are asking each other to ride. This weekend Campus Cycles in Denver featured Spoke for Front Range cyclists coming to Summit County to see the fall colors. So we may have some new faces over the next few Saturdays. If you’re one of our regulars, welcome them. You might be the first person they meet. One more piece of community news: huge congratulations to David Cudd and his family on welcoming their new baby this week. That’s the stuff I love. We started by asking people to ride bikes together. Somewhere along the way, we started sharing our lives too. Bikes brought us into the room. Community is everything that happens after that. I’ll be home for a few days in about two weeks before heading back out for another run of tours in Mississippi. Until then, keep sending me pictures. Keep making plans. Keep inviting people. Keep showing up. Spoke keeps happening from 500 miles away. Not because I’m there. Because you are. Ride bikes. Make friends.

September is here, and Spoke is still rolling. Saturday’s road ride brought out another great group, and there’s been plenty of chatter across the different Spoke groups this week. People looking for riding partners, talking routes, and figuring out when they can get outside together. Keep doing that. Because this week, there are plenty of chances to ride: ROAD Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday MOUNTAIN Monday, Friday, Sunday Beyond that, if you want to ride gravel, get out on the fat bike, or just have a free afternoon and want some company, throw it in the group chat. Sometimes community really is as simple as: “I’m riding. Anybody want to come?” If you’ve been around Spoke for a while, this is also a great week to help keep things moving. Welcome somebody new. Help gather the group. Make sure everyone knows the plan. Look out for each other. It doesn’t need to be complicated. Just show up and ride bikes together. One other thing that feels important right now: There have been quite a few crashes and injuries around our cycling community lately. We’re getting toward the back end of a long season. The legs are strong, but there are also a lot of miles in them. So let’s finish the season strong. Communicate. Give each other space. Pay attention. Take care of the people around you. To everyone currently healing up: we’re sending you all the good stuff. I’m checking in this week from Utah, guiding bike tours through Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park. Different roads. Same bikes. Keep the rides going. Keep inviting people along. And keep sending me photos so we can keep showing what Spoke looks like while I’m away.

The Road Keeps Going Saturday, I rode five laps around Dillon Reservoir. 100 miles. I didn't ride them alone. People jumped in for a lap. Others stayed for more. People came and went throughout the day. Somewhere in there, it hit me: That was a pretty perfect way to end my own summer with Spoke. I've ridden six centuries this year, yet when I think about this summer, I don't really think about my own milestones. I think about everyone else's. Someone's first century. Someone's first Triple Bypass. Someone's first Copper Triangle. Someone's longest ride ever. Someone showing up alone for the first time and finding people to ride with. We had ~25 people show up one morning to take on Copper Triangle and Dirty Triangle. We found each other over and over again across 118 miles of Triple Bypass. We rode Tuesdays. Thursdays. Saturdays. Sundays. We filled a room for More Than a Ride. Somehow this little cycling community even ended up on CBS. This has been one of my favorite summers of my life. Now my roads are taking me somewhere else for a while. I'll spend most of the next two months outside Summit County, leading bike tours and riding plenty of miles, but I won't be home organizing the next ride. Maybe that's a good thing, because Spoke was never supposed to belong to one person. If you want a ride to happen, make it happen. Post it. Invite people. Lead it. Three people riding around the lake and grabbing coffee afterward? That's Spoke.. I'm not ready to write the ending to Season 2 yet. There are still miles left. I want to see what happens next. For now: Thank you for one hell of a summer. One of my favorites ever. Not because of how many miles I rode, but because of how many of them I got to share. Keep riding. Keep inviting. Keep showing up. I'll see you when the roads bring me home.

Well… this happened! Spoke was featured on CBS Colorado. Somehow, a story that started with bicycles became a five-minute conversation about loneliness, mental health, friendship, belonging, and what it means to find community in a mountain town. Which feels pretty appropriate. Bikes were always the vehicle. Connection is the point. Thank you to Spencer Wilson and CBS Colorado for spending time with us, and to Building Hope Summit County for helping tell the bigger story about why spaces like this matter. Most importantly: Thank you to everyone who showed up. Everyone who came to a first ride knowing nobody. Everyone who invited somebody else. Everyone who waited. Everyone who led. Everyone who stayed in the parking lot talking long after the ride ended. Every person who helped turn a calendar of bike rides into an actual community. CBS told the story. You created it. Patrick is away guiding this week, so Tuesday’s Social Ride and Thursday Night Thunder roll on without him, exactly the way a real community should. Then he’ll be back for one final Saturday Social this season before spending most of September and October out of Summit County. Saturday. 9:00am. Frisco Visitor Center. We want to make this one a big one. There may be a little something extra happening around it. Full CBS story + this week’s Monday Update are live now at the link in bio. Pretty damn proud of this community. Let's go!

More Than a Ride. A couple weeks ago, more than 60 people walked into a room in Frisco because of bikes. For one night, we barely talked about the bikes. We talked about connection. About loneliness. About finding people. About what it means to live in a place this beautiful and still sometimes feel alone in it. We talked about why Spoke exists in the first place. And then we did the thing we’ve been trying to do all summer: We spent time together. People who had never met sat down next to each other. Riding partners became friends. New people walked into a room not knowing anyone and left knowing a few more faces around Summit County. It was loud. It was messy. It was incredibly human. These are just a few of the moments from More Than a Ride, our night with Building Hope Summit County. There will be plenty more to share. Maybe the best part is that the night wasn't an ending. Tuesday, ten people got back on bikes together. Thursday Night Thunder rolls again this week. Saturday Social is back at 9:00 AM. This weekend, riders are taking on the Leadville Trail 100 MTB and the end-of-season race at A-Basin. We're checking Swan every day, waiting for the gates to finally open! The big nights matter, but so do all the ordinary Tuesdays and Saturdays that come afterward. That’s where community actually gets built. More than a ride. Still rolling. See you out there.

This Wednesday, leave the bike at home. The most important Spoke gathering this week is not a ride. It is an opportunity to meet the people behind the helmets, connect outside of the pace line, and help shape what this community can become. MORE THAN A RIDE Wednesday, July 29 6:00-8:00 pm Highside Brewing, Frisco Spoke began with cycling, but the purpose has always been bigger: creating connection, reducing isolation, and helping people find community here in Summit County. That is why we are partnering with Building Hope Summit County for an evening centered on movement, mental health, belonging, and the relationships we build along the way. Come if you ride with us every week. Come if you have only joined once. Come if you have followed along but have not made it to a ride yet. Come if you simply want to meet more good people in this community. No bike required. No pace requirement. No need to already know anyone. Bring yourself. Bring a friend. Bring your ideas for what we can build next. SATURDAY UPDATE: Beginning this Saturday, our Saturday Social Ride will move to 9:00 am for all five Saturdays in August. We will reassess before September. This weekend is also the Copper Triangle, with around a dozen Spoke riders expected on course. Good luck to everyone taking it on, and we will still have a local Saturday Social leaving from Old Town Hall Pavilion in Frisco at 9:00 am. See you Wednesday night!

Six days to ride. One community. From now through September 1, we’re piloting a consistent six-day Spoke schedule across Summit County: Monday - Social MTB Tuesday - Social Road Wednesday - No standing ride Thursday - Spicy Road Friday - Social MTB Saturday - Social Road Sunday - Advanced MTB All four weekday rides now meet at 5:30 pm and roll around 5:45 pm. We’ve passed the longest day of the year, and moving slightly earlier will help us preserve daylight. We’re also into monsoon season, so weather cancellations may happen. Our goal is to announce cancellations approximately 90 minutes before each ride. This week, we’re also testing a 9:00 am Saturday Social start instead of 10:00 am. The hope is to finish earlier, avoid more afternoon showers, and give everyone more time for their Saturday plans. Then comes the biggest night on our calendar: ⭐ MORE THAN A RIDE Wednesday, July 29 6:00-8:00 pm Highside Brewing in Frisco Spoke × Building Hope. This is about more than bicycles. It is about connection, belonging, and creating more ways for people in Summit County to find one another. We want the entire community there. Bring a friend. Wherever you ride this week, tag @SpokeSummit in your stories. We want to see the roads, trails, people, and adventures that make up this community.
